Google New Spam Update will be completed after 7 days
At this point, Google’s implementation of the June 2024 spam update has been finished. The implementation of the June 2024 spam update began on December 19, 2024, which is almost seven days ago. The spam update continued until December 26, 2024. Finally, it concluded on December 26, 2024. This was the third Google New Spam Update of the year 2024. And it began one day after Google finished the core upgrade that was launched in December of the same year.
This update was a generic and broad update about spam. It was not an update on link spam, and it did not automate the site reputation abuse policy. Which is still exclusively done through manual actions.
Google stated, “Update Will Be Rolling Out On Dic. 26, 2024.”
The following is what we noticed. Even though the update was announced the day after the December core release, its impact was significant. It appears that it hit extremely hard within a few days and was far more prevalent than some of the spam updates that came before it. However, it is not yet time to delve into the update’s details.
If this upgrade affected you, you might notice a decline in your ranks in Search Console. For this particular update, it is important to keep in mind that holiday traffic can be quite unpredictable and low for many websites. Therefore, you should focus on ranks rather than traffic.
In the past, there have been updates regarding spam. The 27th of June marked the conclusion of the most recent spam update. Which was referred to as the June 2024 spam update.

What are the reasons for our concern? Many of us were taken aback by this Google upgrade, which was published just one day after the core update and a few days before the holidays. Google’s announcement that it would terminate an upgrade either during the Christmas season or after the holidays took us by surprise.
The Google search algorithm has undergone seven updates in 2024. In addition to four core enhancements, there have also been three spam upgrades. However, any changes in ranking that you observed during this update could have been caused by it, even though the specific form of spam that it is is unclear.
In this case, the changes in question are regarded as spam. The company provided a link to Google’s standard guidance on spam updates.
The guidance states:
“While Google’s automated systems to detect search spam are constantly operating, we occasionally make notable improvements to how they work. When we do, we refer to this as a spam update and share when they happen on our list of Google Search ranking updates.
For example, SpamBrain is our AI-based spam prevention system. From time-to-time, we improve that system to make it better at spotting spam and to help ensure it catches new types of spam.
Sites that see a change after a spam update should review our spam policies to ensure they are complying with those. Sites that violate our policies may rank lower in results or not appear in results at all. Making changes may help a site improve if our automated systems learn over a period of months that the site complies with our spam policies.
In the case of a link spam update (an update that specifically deals with link spam), making changes might not generate an improvement. This is because when our systems remove the effects spammy links may have, any ranking benefit the links may have previously generated for your site is lost. We cannot regain any potential ranking benefits generated by those links.
